July 23rd 2016, Indiaspopup.com and Gaurav Gupta once again joined forces for one of India’s most celebrated fashion events: FDCI India Couture Week 2016.
As Gaurav Gupta had quoted, “We are really excited about our collaboration with Indiaspopup.com. They are one of the only online retailers doing luxury designers in a beautiful and unique way. We can’t wait to launch our collection on their portal.”
The runway was converted into cave-like structures, the crowds are bigger and the clothes have more ruffles and shine on them than you last remember. Gupta’s forte is cocktail dressing and he has perfected the art of western silhouettes, high octane embellishments and flattering cuts—all of the elements that define glamour for the evening. Gaurav Gupta’s love for the excess grows each season.
About the Collection
The collection titled the ‘Scape Song’, took into consideration elements of water bodies, sands and free forms in nature, mixed fluidity with architecture and vintage with experimentation. A press release stated that this collection for the Indian woman is, ‘Progressive yet rooted.’ The fun pleats, the use of pearls and micro-beads, all together referred to the free spirited architecture and the love of romance.
The color palette chosen for this season was soothing and stylish opting for beige, browns, midnight blues, mint greens, blush, lavender and then reds.
Pièce de résistance
Gupta experimented with the crystal mesh fabric by Swarovski, which was used in the making the masterpiece of the show. This show stopping piece was worn by debutante actress Saiyami Kher who is set to star in the upcoming feature film Mirzya alongside Harshvardhan Kapoor.
