When Sabyasachi opened Lakme Fashion Week with his Spring/Summer 2015 line, he topped all the other shows scheduled – before they even started. Set at the rustic grounds of Richardson and Cruddas Mills in the heart of Mumbai, the large-scale show featured a seemingly endless ramp for a runway with bright laser lights acting as the backdrop.
The designer’s collection – inspired by his love for Bollywood – featured 62 models and over 100 outfits. Slinky sequined dresses, printed flared trousers, shimmering tunics and airy boho maxis all paid tribute to 70s Bollywood films. One of the most sought after designers, Sabyasachi’s latest line of resort wear, “Big Love” for his label Sabyasachi by Sabyasachi, mixed colors, fabrics and textures to create the perfect balance of romance, glamour and fun.
An ensemble with drama doesn’t have to weigh you down. These designs consist of lightweight fabric and little embroidery, perfect for summer evenings.
A kaleidoscope of colorful brights and glittery pastels sauntered down the runway during the second half of Sabyasachi’s show. Featuring an array of styles, fabrics and silhouettes, these unique pieces require full attention.
It was no surprise that such a highly anticipated event (and much beloved designer) drew in numerous celebrities. Stars Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Sridevi were seated in the front row during the show, and many other top celebs could be spotted throughout the night’s festivities.
